Donald Trump Personality Type – Big five
Openness
Donald Trump has higher than average levels of openness. He doesn’t come across as a particularly creative person, but he does have a strong interest in ideas. An interest in ideas is one of the main aspects of trait openness. He values the idea of free speech. This is a classic liberal view, which personality psychologists have associated with higher levels of trait openness.
Conscientiousness
Donald Trump is very high in conscientiousness, particularly industriousness, which is the hard-working trait. This means he places high value on business, and has a strong work ethic. This means he also values this trait in others. Being high in trait conscientiousness is also associated with having more conservative political views. Conscientiousness is very strong with Donald Trump, this will over shadow his liberal side most of the time.
Extroversion
Another trait Donald Trump is high on is extroversion. He is very vocal, assertive, and he seems to value being around others in order to gain energy from them. He also seems to be sensitive to impulsive pleasure-seeking, with a general inclination to be impulsive. This is a very obvious trait that he has.
Agreeableness
Like with many successful business people, he is low in agreeableness. He is clearly not afraid of confrontation, and he has a strong competitive nature. He has a desire to move up the status hierarchy. Status seeking comes from a combination of low agreeableness and high extroversion. This is a combination that increases the chance of a narcissistic personality developing. However, I don’t think Trump is extreme with narcissism.
Neuroticism
Overall, he seems low in neuroticism, low enough to be able to function well in high pressure situations. However, perhaps he is high enough in some aspects to be affected by some of the criticism of his personal character.
Donald Trump Personality Type – MBTI
Donald Trump on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a ESTP, perhaps an ESTJ. He is extroverted, sensing, he lives in the moment. He’s straight talking, combative and competitive, which suggests he is a thinker. Whether he is a judger or perceiver is not so obvious to me. Other sites label him as a perceiver. However, being a judger is more closely linked to valuing traditions, hard work, and generally having conservative values.
