DEI Needs to Die
What is diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and does it improve worker productivity and morale like some claim? Plus, why DEI needs to die!
What is DEI?
I keep seeing jobs such as DEI manager, or DEI officer or something like that. So, what the hell is it? These jobs are based around the idea of making sure that people from minority groups are properly represented in certain job roles. So, basically, don’t employ too many straight white males.
The Three Main Values
Diversity: Refers to the presence of variety within the workforce, including aspects like gender, culture, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, and opinion. How about the opinion that DEI does more harm than good?
Equity: Focuses on fairness and justice, ensuring equal opportunities and addressing supposed societal disparities.
Inclusion: Creates an organizational culture where all employees feel heard, valued, and integrated. This is nothing more than a wish, an idealistic fantasy.
Claimed Benefits of DEI?
Enhanced Creativity and Innovation: Diverse teams bring a wider range of perspectives, leading to more creative problem-solving and innovative ideas. There is no actual evidence that supports this. Some people are creative, and some are not. This has nothing to do with belonging to a certain gender or race.
Improved Decision-Making: Inclusive environments encourage open dialogue and diverse viewpoints, resulting in better-informed decisions.
Talent Attraction and Retention: Organizations that prioritize DEI attract top talent and retain employees who feel valued and included. Prioritizing DEI is to not prioritize talent and ability. This is a complete contradiction.
Market Competitiveness: Diverse companies are better positioned to understand and serve diverse customer bases, enhancing market reach.
Higher Employee Engagement: Inclusive workplaces foster a sense of belonging, leading to increased job satisfaction and productivity.
Reduced Bias and Discrimination: DEI efforts mitigate unconscious bias and promote fair treatment for all employees.
Positive Organizational Reputation: Companies committed to DEI are seen as socially responsible and attractive to investors.
Evidence of These Benefits
From what I can tell, there is very little if any credible evidence that backs up any of these claimed benefits. It seems to be nothing more than a belief that DEI provides benefits for companies and businesses. It costs companies to hire these DEI managers, despite the fact that there is no evidence that it provides any benefits to workplace productivity.
Reported Issues of DEI?
If people are not primarily being hired due to their merit and experience, it may have a negative impact on productivity and profits. Not to mention that DEI places a lot of importance on group identities such as race and gender, rather than on the individual.
There have been reports that suggest that DEI is actually causing problems and frictions within the work place. DEI prioritizes group differences, rather than individual excellence.
To justify the existence of DEI is to also suggest that racial discrimination against minorities is worse than it actually is. This in itself could create divisions, distrust and possibly hate. It’s playing the game of oppressor and oppressed.
Is DEI Racist & Discriminatory?
DEI seems like a good and noble cause. However, like so many other far leftist views and policies, DEI is only good if you don’t dig deeper, and actually think about it for any substantial period of time. DEI places great importance on group identities, such as race, gender, sexuality, and religious beliefs. DEI favours people by these groups, therefore it also discriminates against them as well.
Diversity of character and personality is better (Meritocracy). Meritocracy is the only way not to favour or discriminate against a group identity, including race.
Final Comments
DEI quotas are another example of how insane and narcissistic society has become. It’s a result of companies and politicians virtue signalling, and pandering to any minority group. Because if they don’t, people will call them bad names.
It’s also regressing society back to more tribal times, when society places more value on your group identity, rather than the individual. Not to mention, also discriminating based on your gender, sexuality, and race. I wonder whether this type of nonsense exists in China, Africa, or India? No it doesn’t. Western countries seem to be held to a different standard than the rest of the world.
