Psychology of Riots & Public Unrest – C Jung The Shadow

What are the causes of public unrest and riots, mainly using Carl Jung’s psychological theory of the persona and the shadow to analyse the current situation going on in the UK and across Europe.

The Persona and the Shadow

The persona is the social mask we display to the world, which is dictated by social norms, popular beliefs, and accepted norms of behaviour and attitudes. Everything else that we don’t display to others and even ourselves is the shadow area.

This concept can apply to individuals, groups, and even entire nations.

Political Correctness

Political correctness has probably been the biggest contributor and influencer on the development of the persona, therefore the shadow across Europe. Political correctness has prevented people from being able to talk about certain issues and societal problems. Very serious issues and crimes have been suppressed by the mainstream media, politicians and other authorities. Some people have been heavily demonized for even talking about these sensitive issues.

This is a recipe for the building of a massive collective shadow in the population. The shadow builds not just for the perpetrators of individual crimes and their groups, but also for those who tried to suppress and hide the truth. In this case it was mostly the politicians. This also creates massive distrust, which only adds to the problem.

Political correctness has allowed evil acts to be committed hidden behind its mask of compassion. Political correctness is really a symptom of weakness, ignorance, and of a society that has lost its way. Much of this stems from the ignorant demonization of the west, and the shift to the left which now favours minorities over the majority.

Lack of Democracy

What we are seeing now in the UK is the result of that shadow building up being expressed. What is happening is actually very predictable, therefore avoidable. However, the politicians didn’t listen. The opinion of the majority was made clear by the results of the Brexit Referendum, and the 2019 general election. The majority of people believed that immigration was too high, and that it was having a negative impact on their towns and cities with increasing crime rates and social problems.

Political decisions quote.

The elected government didn’t reduce immigration; they actually doubled it since the supposed exit from the European Union. Plus, tens of thousands of illegals coming across the channel, at the expense of around 8 million pounds being spent every single day on these mostly young men. This only adds insult to injury.

Governments have been and are conducting a massive social experiment on the populations that nobody voted for. This is the social experiment of mass immigration and multiculturalism. This experiment was an act of extraordinary arrogance, ignorance, and naive irresponsibility. It really does show the decline in the quality of the people leading our countries.

It’s also the result of ever-increasing narcissistic and self-interested politicians that care more about their image on a global scale. Narcissistic virtue signaling is behind many of their motivations.

Oppressed VS Oppressor

Those who feel that they have been oppressed will develop a hatred for the oppressor. This hatred potentially leads to riots within the oppressed or perceived oppressed groups.

Politicians and the media have been playing identity politics. They are telling minorities that they have been oppressed, creating resentment and hate. At the same time, actually oppressing the indigenous native populations, creating resentment and hate from the other side.

Throughout history, it’s usually minority groups that have been oppressed. However, things have changed. Because the political landscape has shifted so far to the left, in many Western countries it certainly feels like governments and politicians have turned against the native majorities.

The evidence for this is the suppression of crimes against the native majority, politicians ignoring the concerns of the majority, two-tier policing, DEI hiring practises that discriminate against white males. Now the native populations in many Western countries have become the oppressed. Feelings of oppression breeds hate, which can easily turn to riots and public unrest.

Final Comments

Politics, Plato Quote.

It seems like most politicians are incapable of deviating from their current path. This is partly because they don’t want to accept failure. Instead, they look for scapegoats, like blaming the far-right and certain individuals. This will likely lead to them trying to suppress free speech, and the continuation of demonising alternative views, and political persecution.

However, this will alienate and frustrate people even more, leading to more and more unrest and likely riots and destruction. This will lead to governments giving themselves more authoritarian and dictatorial powers. They will attempt to subvert democracy, which they will justify by the demonization of their critics and opposition. Essentially, they will become fascists hidden behind left-wing ideologies.

They basically have two opinions. Admit failure and change. Or, pursue more power and more control, which includes cracking down on our personal freedoms. Will they choose humility and openness, or denial, delusion, and ego? Unfortunately, I think I know which direction they will go in. On the plus side, the Reform party will gain popularity.

Ultimately, the blame lies with those in charge, the weak, corrupted, mediocre-minded politicians.
