Jennifer Lawrence’s most well-known and successful roles include: The Hunger Games Movies, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Dark Pheonix, Passengers, and House at the End of the Street, to name a few.
Jennifer Lawrence Personality Type – Big Five
Openness
I would say that Jennifer Lawrence was on the higher end of the openness scale. As an actress, and being involved in movies and creativity, plus, she is a commentator on big picture political issues. Someone with a high interest in the artistic, and an interest in ideas suggests that they are on the high side of trait openness.
Conscientiousness
Jennifer Lawrence is somewhere between the middle and towards the lower end on the conscientiousness scale. She doesn’t seem to value traditions and conservative values. Those low on conscientiousness tend to have more left-leaning political views, which is true of Jennifer Lawrence.
Extroversion
Jennifer Lawrence seems high on extroversion. She is assertive, confident, and she seems to thrive from social interactions. She also makes friends easily, often having good chemistry with her co-stars. Apparently, in school she was also voted the most talkative person.
Agreeableness
Jennifer Lawrence is high in agreeableness. She seems motivated by equality and compassion, which likely influences her political views to support more left-leaning causes. While she is not afraid to express her views, generally, she seems to want to avoid confrontation and for people to get along.
Neuroticism
I think Jennifer Lawrence is slightly on the high end of the neuroticism scale. She has a lot of positive emotions which come from her extroverted trait, but I also see a fair amount of negative emotion. She has suggested in interviews a few times that she needed alcohol to deal with being in the limelight, and to suppress certain emotions. She has often expressed a fear of saying something that would embarrass herself. I believe she is likely trying to suppress a degree of self-consciousness, and perhaps social anxiety.
She also uses a lot of self-deprecating humour, which may suggest high negative emotions. I also think she likely projects some of this negative emotion onto those with differing political views.
Jennifer Lawrence Personality Type – MBTI
Jennifer Lawrence is an ENFP personality type. She is extroverted, and she is also an intuitive feeler, which creates a compassionate and idealist personality. As a perceiver, she moves away from conservative views and traditions.
Final Comments
During a recent interview, Jennifer Lawrence made a comment about her role in The Hunger Games being the first female lead in an action film. This is clearly a false statement, and many commentators justifiably criticised her for it. The first Hunger Games movie was released in 2012, and there have been many female leads in action movies before then. Examples: Kill Bill 2003, Resident Evil 2002, Terminator 2 1991, and many more.
There are a few possible reasons for this. Simple ignorance is one. It could be a sign of her wanting to seem more important than she is, which could be a possible sign of narcissism. She may also have a distorted belief of reality due to strong political or ideological beliefs. Strong beliefs can often override facts. If those beliefs are the foundation, rather than the facts being at the foundation, facts will get altered to support a belief, rather than beliefs being altered by the facts.
